Workplace Ethical Dilemmas Workplace Ethical Dilemmas Ethical dilemmas are what happen when a person is faced with a decision that may press against their personal values or beliefs. At one of my previous jobs, there was a problem with employees conducting their personal business, errands, or hobbies all while on the company’s time. There were many times that people were caught shopping on company computers, playing games or accessing social networking sites, checking personal email accounts, and taking excessive breaks without the companies approval. This began to be a problem because while people are doing these things on company time, they are not doing the job that they are being paid to perform. Of course it may seem harmless†¦show more content†¦This is not fair to the company that is paying their employees who are not doing the work that they are there to be doing. This causes more problems for the employees who actually are doing what they believe is right and taking care of their business when the time is right for it. In this instance, the company began monitoring their computer systems more to find out what people were looking for or the sites that they were visiting and began blocking them from their internal server. This kept people from doing and going to certain websites while on company time. They also installed cameras and to monitor who was coming and going so that if there came an instance that they believed someone to have left early without clocking out then they could decide the proper actions to take for that person. These decisions that they have made have seemed to help the company with the problem, there will always be people who go around or try to bend the rules, but it has decreased the number of people slowing the production of the company by wasting company time. This has seemed to help the problem, and definitely has not made it worse, but by making sure that the proper consequences are taken for the wrongful actions that a person does will make all the difference.
